When Blaine spotted him he stood and stretched his hand out.  Hey,
Brandt, so you re back. Heard you brought someone with you.

but he just took a seat and put his feet up. One of the men offered him a
beer, and he took it with a muttered thanks.
 Just came in to see what s the latest. He peered at Blaine not sure
how much the man would share. He and Corey were best friends, but

He d calmed their fears on many occasions.  I was in with Corey and
Devin a few minutes ago, and it looks like there are problems at the top.

Blaine s eyes darkened, and he compressed his lips. When they
waited, he sighed and wiped a hand over his face. Not until he d drained
his beer did he speak.  Look, I m sure it s all around the homestead by
now that Corey and Devin are having issues. They decided it would be

The other guys looked at Brandt with sympathy, confirming his

 Devin and Corey are always in agreement, Blaine snapped. Which
of course wasn t true, or they wouldn t be having this conversation. Blaine

one other than the two of them needs to know. Corey had one night with

Brandt considered what he knew of his alphas. The fact was they were
connected. Sometimes one felt what the other did. If Corey in any way
enjoyed his time with Corrin, then it might be that Devin sensed that, and
it made him jealous. Worse would be if he felt what it would be like with
his own sister, which would be gross, and too weird. Again, that would put
strain on any relationship.
 So what if she doesn t get pregnant? Brandt said.  Will he try again
next month and the next? I can t imagine Devin s not going to blow at
some point.
Blaine nodded, his pallor gone pale.  I ve considered that.
What he didn t say was another thing Brandt knew. Those that were in
opposition to gay alphas were the ones putting pressure on Corey. In the
end, someone might challenge him or demand that he step down. Then
who would lead? Before Devin came and knocked heads on Corey s
behalf, there had been total discord among the pack. Brandt didn t want to
go back to that. They were weaker when they weren t united and subject
to attacks like they had suffered from Blaine s mate s people.
Brandt drained the last of his beer.  Thanks for the drink. I guess I
better get back to my cabin.
Before he could get too far, Blaine called after him.  Hey, Brandt.

 Don t hold it against Corey. I know you wanted to do your part to
grow our numbers, but you have to be true to your wolf too. If he wants
who s waiting for you at home, that s the way it s got to be.
He shrugged.  Yeah.

He left the community building and headed back toward his cabin. The
closer he drew to it, the more he longed to see Tyr. Lying in his man s
arms, he could forget about the stresses of the pack. Blaine didn t have to
ask him not to hold anything against Corey. He wished his leader no ill.
Not Corey anyway, but Devin was not going to take out his jealousy for
his mate on Tyr. His lover had dealt enough with big bullies who wanted
only to please themselves. He d seen that in Kai.
Still, he d been surprised the cat shifter let Tyr go without much of a
fight. He had called after Tyr that he would be back when Brandt learned
what he was truly all about. At first Brandt let that get to him, but then he
dismissed it as just something to scare Tyr because Brandt and his people
were wolves. Brandt would do everything in his power to protect Tyr, and
like Corey said, no one needed to know what Tyr was. They would know
he was different and of course a shifter of some kind. He and Tyr would
leave it there. With the drama the alphas were entertaining from, no one
would focus long on Tyr.
